The Office of the Executive Secretary on Thursday said work and classes would not be suspended on January 27 and 30, despite calls to declare the dates as holidays.
January 27 is the eve of the Chinese New Year and January 30 is the coronation event for the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
Work and classes in Binondo, Quiapo, and Sta. Cruz areas, however, would be suspended on January 27 following an announcement from former President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo previously urged Malacañang to declare January 30 a holiday to allow Filipinos, including children, to witness the “once-in-a-year spectacle” hosted by the Philippines this year. — MDM, GMA News
